An article was published this week titled: Iranian forces shooting at faces and genitals of female protesters, medics say. When I read it, I felt deep disgust at the perpetrators of this terrible violence, ruining women in the most awful way possible. Barbaric!
The women are either dying, permanently maimed, or they will be unable to get pregnant, have sex, or even be considered desirable for marriage based on the severity of the injuries. You read stories like this and wonder what is going on in the heads of the leadership of Iran, as well as the men willingly carrying out these punishments. It’s such a sickness in any society.
Hatred of women serves no country, and we are seeing too much of it spreading around the world. We MUST stop it in its tracks. Everyone wins with equality, and everyone wins when all are respected and treated with dignity. Can’t we finally get our heads around this essential truth?
In Iran, indications show the regime is starting to see they cannot win (but who knows if they will ever give up their power?) and are apparently looking to secure asylum in Venezuela – where Putin and Trump are also apparently looking to relocate, which is kind of interesting.
Since protests started, nearly 500 people have been killed, 18,000 imprisoned and executions have started to be carried out. How many have been injured permanently is anyone’s guess.
What can we do to help? Support the protests on social media and keep the importance of the protests in the minds of our communities around the world. We can’t let this disappear into the background, like we often do.
Donate to charities supporting Iran, especially medical charities, as the wounds being inflicted are barbaric. Also let’s rise and say this treatment of women anywhere is not acceptable in our world.
I know it often looks like we are far away from these events, which leaves us feeling useless, however, the women and men of Iran who are leading this fight will be buoyed by all of the support we can give them. Let’s do it. Let’s support this very worthy moment in Iran’s history and help them kick out this evil, corrupt, and malignant government.
What do you reckon? You in?

And we need all the good people in the world speaking up to get the balance of the global narrative back where it needs to be.
