Can you guess what I’ve been focused on this week? Bullies and sexual abusers in powerful political positions? Nah, we always have them, unfortunately. My focus has been on the IPCC Report, and based on what I’m observing – across all social media platforms – I do feel we have finally hit an awareness tipping point.
One of the things I love to do is observe conversations across social media and for the first time, people in powerful positions across business, media, entertainment and government are speaking out and saying enough! This is the first time I’ve seen it on such a scale, as most have always been concerned about how it would impact them professionally. They do not care anymore, and just this gives me hope.
If you’re not tracking social media like me, you won’t feel this shift, but if you trust me, trust that it is happening – BIG shift.
As we all know, all is not well in the world, not well at all. My husband asked me if the report scared me and it doesn’t. I’ve been reading the research that went into the report for years and if anything, I know the language is still not as extreme as it needs to be. However, it is the most powerful IPCC report so far, and I’m happy about that, AT LAST. The 5th version definitely didn’t reflect the full reality.
We have work to do, a lot of work, and as I’ve said many times this week (and before) the biggest challenge with the climate crisis is getting people to face it. People do not want to face it, because it’s a very horrible thing to face, so rather than doing it, people are putting their fingers in their ears and screaming go away, I like not knowing. I totally get this. Totally.
But we must look this threat in the eye, accept that we’re in real trouble and then we get to work. There is a slither of hope, which is why we must move past this point quickly.
Yes, you will face intense emotions when you read this stuff. However, I promise you, I am here to help you navigate the pain as quickly as possible, because that’s when you can step into action. When you get into action, you step out of despair. It’s the only path through.
Please come and join my Facebook Group Uncommon Courage. That is what this space is for – to help each other through and then to get into action. Join us.
Also please please read the IPCC Report, or some of the articles below, which intelligently discuss the findings. The video below is super easy to digest too. Please do this. We have no more time to waste. We must face the threat all life on earth currently faces. We can’t offer this future to our children.
Friend’s Content and sometimes mine
How To Let Go Of Pain Caused By Someone Else – my friend Dion Jensen is doing AMAZING work helping to heal so many people. This is a complicated topic, but I wholeheartedly concur. We have to learn how to let go of the pain inflicted by others. Not for them, for us.
Don’t forget to seek awe – I’ll be doing a series of mini-videos linked to the book Uncommon Courage, based on the many themes discussed in the boo. Here is the first.
Please donate to causes that matter
If everyone gave #just10percent of their time, talent, money or voice, we’ll change the world. Can you donate? Make it a regular donation to the World Food Programme. Help us feed people in Phuket or donate to the UN Refugee Program, PowerOf , Kiva.org , Soi Dog Foundation. It’s a time for giving and taking care of each other.
Content to read
And here’s the content I’ve been reading this last week. Scan the headlines, read the ones that jump out at you, read or watch them all. Knowledge is power, and global knowledge is even more powerful.
